"JOSEPH L. FAVERO, 77, of Paramus died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. He was a principal in the Bergenfield school system for 30 years before retiring from Franklin Elementary school in 1986. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6699 and the Senior Pioneers, and was active in the Boy Scouts, all in Paramus. He was a former president of the Bergenfield/Dumont Rotary Club. He was a graduate of Jersey City State College and received a master's degree from Columbia University. Arrangements: Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. "
 

Bob Hauf  remembers:
The things I remember about him is that he was wounded in World
War II and walked with a slight limp.  He entertained us at times by telling of his times in the war and especially by telling us how he used to knit his own socks using cord or string while he was in the Army.  I remember him as a good teacher and he was generally liked by the kids.  He taught as a team with Gwen Rumsey who passed away sometime ago.
